February: Self-Care

This month I am focusing on self-care.

What is self-care?

Self-care is defined as the practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness.

It is not only taking care of ones skin and looks, but rather ones mind, body and spirit.

Why should we increase our self-care?

In today’s busy life, we often de-prioritize taking care of ourselves. Self-care increases our self-esteem and self-love. And when we neglect this part of us, it often affects relationships with friends, family and loved ones. It can even suck you into toxic relationships with others and yourself. When we are truly loving ourself and taking care of ourselves we feel empowered, happy and can more willingly give love to everyone around us.

Journaling more.

Journaling is so important to loving yourself. It helps you get to know you in your own personal space. It’s not only a great outlet, but also free therapy. Article to come on this, check our instagram for updates.

Self Care Sunday.

We are all extremely busy. And taking care of yourself can often get pushed aside. That’s why I love dedicating one day a week to take care myself. Learn all about how to create your own Self Care Sunday here.

Meditating More.

Meditating more can help clear the worries in your head and help you get to know yourself a little better. For this specific month, I suggest you start listening to self-love specified mediations. Here are a few free podcast for guided self-love mediation below:

Do things you love.

If you want to get a pizza for dinner. Do it. If you want to get your nails done. Treat yourself. If you want to watch Netflix’s The Christmas Prince. No judgement. Just do what you want to do at least once a week. Life can be so repetitive from work to home to adulting- there is no time for fun. So enjoy life and write down a list of at least 4-5 things you would just love to do. And do them!

Read more.

Reading can help heal your perception of yourself and create a better dialog between you and your inner critic. Pick 1 book this month to read.
